Open Trackback Friday — December 8th, 2006

As we get closer to Christmas it’s another Open Trackback Friday (the second one of December) — 17 more shopping days ’til Christmas. Why not make this more festive by sharing your interesting entries from your blog by using this blog’s trackback feature. Merely link your post to this one, send a trackback to it and it’ll appear in the comments upon my personal manual approval. I am forced to approve all comments & trackbacks manually due to spam bots even though I have a system in place to filter them out. The filter doesn’t work as well as I’d like. In fact, of late, it doesn’t appear to be working well at all. Actually the filters I have are currently in active mode and are supposed to work with my version of WordPress don’t seem to be doing a decent job stopping the stupid spam. So I use myself as the ultimate spam filter. In other words, I manually delete all spam before you, the reader, are subjected to it. Just rightclick where it says “trackback” below and then click on “copy shortcut” to get the trackback URL. That’s all there is to it! And thank you in advance for trackbacking to my blog. And while you’re here, please take some time to look at some articles I’ve posted. Maybe you’ll find something interesting. If you do, trackback to it as well.

What up, Carl? One thing you might try is Akismet with Bad Behavior. I use those, and they get rid of most TB spam. They catch some legit stuff, but, at least I am not havin to wade through 300-400 spams to find the legit stuff.
Also, I am using Peters Custom anti-spam for the Captcha, best one I have tried. http://www.theblog.ca/?p=21
PS: might want to have the TB’s show in-line
