John Clark’s Amazing Bio-Dieselmobile (Vegetable Oil To Be Precise)
I just got an email from John Clark, a friend of whom I had not heard from in quite a while (I was introduced to him and another friend, Chris Hall, when we worked at WCTV in Tallahassee several years ago — one of the very nice things John & Chris did for me in just the first few days we worked together was to teach me several chords on the guitar after I failed miserably to teach myself from a Mel Bay “Teach Yourself Guitar” book — many thanks, guys). Some time ago he converted an automobile, an Izusu I-Mark to be specific, to run on filtered vegetable oil. With Hurricane Ike causing several refineries in Texas to shut down for an undisclosed length of time, people flocked to fuel stations to get their tanks topped off before prices spiked on newly delivered fuel (as demonstrated by my earlier post concerning high fuel prices in Tallahassee as high as $5.49 for regular unleaded Friday afternoon). John shot and produced this documentary music video of fuel stations in and around Thomasville, Georgia that have run out of fuel (just as dozens have here in Tallahassee). We’ll see how much the prices spike when deliveries to those fuel stations resume starting Monday.
