Godly Wisdom — February 21, 2008

Normally I don’t interject personal comments in the Godly Wisdom posts I periodically place on the blog, but this particular instance is close to my heart.
When I was a teenager in rural Mississippi, I was a shy kid who wasn’t popular with the teenaged girls. In fact I had only one date while living there and that was a “mercy date” by a friend who felt sorry for me.
I was lonely and miserable. I had no social life and was pretty much a misfit (I was a jock AND a nerd at the same time — go figure). I prayed each night while in bed and every time I prayed, part of the prayer was asking God to find someone special that He would bring into my life.
I prayed that prayer for several years and my faith in God kept me asking Him each time I prayed. I prayed it through high school and into college. And eventually, in 1984 while attending Mississippi State University I met and fell in love with a woman who, as I found out later, had been praying a similar prayer asking God to bring someone special in her life. We were engaged in 1985 and were married on the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 1986. And we’ve been happily married ever since and both of us credit God for bringing us together all those years ago.

Oops! Sorry! I forgot my box cutter was hidden in a hollowed out book in my backpack
OK, I am filing this one in my “what the hell?” file.
As I understand it, the guy tries to board a plane. He passes a backpack through the airport scanner and they see books, box cutter, papers, lint…wait, box cutter?

Consequences of Kosovo Independence on Americans and Non-Muslims
Is the United States supporting a terrorist state in Kosovo? Are Christians and other non-Muslims dying because of this decision? Will Russia, because of Kosovo, turn against the United States in the UN when Iran’s nuclear program is discussed again?
