HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Many years ago in a quiet little blues village called Clarksdale in the land of Mississippi, a child was born on this day that Thomas and Cecelia named Carl.
They raised that boy although he gave them ample reason to leave him beside the roadway in the deep dark forest over the years.
Yup…that was me and today is my birthday. And although I won’t say how old I am44, I will say that44 I am somewhere in44 between 21 and 101.
If you are considering sending me a present, I wouldn’t mind a Fender Telecaster Deluxe in black with chrome hardware. Or maybe a Sony laptop. Or even a 2007 Toyota Avalon.
What? Can’t get any of those? Oh well, a hearty “Happy Birthday” will be just fine.
I don’t plan on doing anything special today to celebrate. I can’t have a birthday cake anymore (too much sugar causes something called “dumping syndrome” which is an after effect of gastric bypass surgery) and I can’t afford a weekend vacation anywhere. So it’ll be just another Saturday. Same old, same old.
Wait…maybe I shouldn’t have said old.
